More Details
Our handmade Graphite Black watercolour paint is created from finely milled carbon pigment, derived from the same graphite medium used in pencils. This gives the paint a soft, expressive quality, making it ideal for sketching, layered shadows, and subtle tonal work.
Granulating naturally, Graphite Black produces textured washes and interesting grey tones, even at higher concentrations. Its restrained intensity ensures it is never a flat or overpowering black, giving artists control and subtlety in their compositions.
Part of our Natural Earth Pigment Range, Graphite Black complements Burnt Umber, Italian Yellow Ochre, Genuine Hematite, and Vine Black, and works beautifully in sketching or mixed media applications. We affectionately call it a “liquid pencil” due to its familiar graphite-like character.
