Our handmade Genuine Hematite watercolour paint is made from finely milled mineral iron ore, naturally blood red in colour. Traditionally called “bloodstone” by the Ancient Greeks, this pigment transforms from bright red to deep earthy brown as it oxidises, giving artists a rich, versatile reddish-brown with strong natural values.
