More Details
Our handmade Antwerp Blue watercolour paint is a softened variation of Prussian Blue, created by blending Prussian Blue pigment with Blanc Fixe. This addition increases opacity and tempers the intensity of Prussian, resulting in a rich yet approachable blue with a subtle yellow bias.
Opaque and moderately granulating, Antwerp Blue is particularly effective when mixed with greens and yellows, where it adds depth, warmth and tonal complexity. Its character is easy on the eye, reminiscent of well-worn denim, making it a versatile blue for landscapes, foliage, and atmospheric passages.
Part of our Historic Colour Range, Antwerp Blue offers a bridge between historical pigment tradition and modern painterly control.
