More Details
Our handmade Malachite watercolour paint is a soft, pale green known for its natural granulation and beautifully subtle blooms on paper. This characteristic makes Malachite particularly suited to adding texture, atmosphere, and a quiet sense of movement within a wash.
Mulled from a synthetic mineral-based pigment, this version of Malachite offers a more even colour than Genuine Malachite, without the yellowish undertone traditionally associated with the natural mineral. It also delivers improved tinting strength and a reliable level of opacity while retaining its delicate, ethereal quality.
Malachite is one of the oldest known green pigments, with roots reaching back to ancient Egyptian tomb paintings and early artistic traditions in Japan and China. Ours sits within the Historic Colour Range, offering artists a thoughtful balance between historical resonance and modern performance.
Think dew-covered pastures on an early spring morning, a colour that naturalises the palette while quietly enriching the surface.
